Saflec Access Control

SACS (an acronym for Saflec Access Control System) (the Saflec flagship product) is a primarily offline system. This means that all access decisions are made locally by the controller that handles the door. There are many advantages to this method including:
- If the PC is inoperative for any reason, the access control still works.
- The network between the controllers need not be as reliable or as fast.
- Response times at the door are improved.
- Because the network need not be as fast, it is possible to run the system country-wide across a company WAN.
- It is however possible to take PC based online control of selected hardware through an extension interface to allow for unusual tests, or to allow for future expansions. This increases the flexibility of the system greatly, as there is almost no limit to the tasks or tests that can be performed by a suitably skilled programmer.
The picture below shows a sample of some of the different layouts that are possible with the SACS access control system. Note: This is by no means an exhaustive layout and many more connection options are possible.
Highlights
- The SEB-700 board provides native TCP/IP connectivity to the SDC-550 Multiple door controller.
- The SEB-720 remote IO board provides extra inputs, outputs AND reader capabilities for the SDC-550 Multiple door controller.
- The SSI-300-W board allows 3rd party devices to connect to the system.
- The SSI-320-232 board is being used in this example to link controllers via a radio link.
Why consider using Saflec System?
Saflec Systems has a strong background in the access controlled security industry. Their flagship product, SACS (Saflec Access Control System) is a primarily offline system. This means that all access decisions are made locally by the controller that handles the door.
Advantages to this method includes:
- If the PC is inoperative for any reason, the access control still works.
- The network between the controllers need to be as reliable or as fast.
- Response times at the door are improved.
- Because the network need to be as fast, it it possible to run the system country-wide across a company WAN.
Saflec Introduces ThruVision
The ThruVision imaging system makes it possible to detect items previously impossible to find when hidden on a person without manual or X-ray scans.
ThruVision's imaging solutions are entirely passive, with no irradiation of subjects that might give rise to health concerns. Images of concealed objects on people are formed using the terahertz waves naturally produced by all people. Privacy is maintained as sensitive anatomical detials of people being imaged are not revealed.
Security and Walk Through Metal Detection
The Saflec range of walk through metal detectors covers a wide range of applications in the security industry. These consist of relatively inexpensive, but never the less reliable, well-made units for general security use for weapons detection, as well as theft, to highly sensitive detectors of precious metals.
Saflec is also highly flexible in its manufacturing process and therefore capable of custom designing metal detectors to suit specialised applications. The standard range are constructed from durable fibreglass, and are designed with ease of installation and maintenance in mind.
