CCTV
Analogue Cameras
CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) entails the monitoring and/or recording of people, processes or property through the use of camera and other related electronic security systems. This form of video security can be sub-divided into analogue and IP (Internet Protocol) solutions. CCTV cameras are available in either monochrome (black and white) or colour. The different types of cameras are Board CCTV cameras, Bullet CCTV cameras, Fixed Dome or Vandal Proof cameras, Fixed CCTV cameras (also called Static cameras), Zoom cameras, PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) cameras, High Speed Dome cameras and IP Network Cameras.
Interfacing
Interfacing is a term used in electronics when different electronic devices are attached. The term is commonly used when attaching memory chips. Interfacing also often refers to the connection of peripheral devices to computers. Desktop computers have several "Standard Interfaces", such the Serial Port Interface (used to connect to Modems, Printers and many other devices), the Parallel Port Interface (Used mostly to connect to Printers), the IDE Interface (To Disk Drives), the USB Interface (To Mice, Printers, Scanners, Card Readers and other desktop devices), the Firewire Interface (To high-speed peripherals such as video cameras), and various Audio (Sound System) Interfaces.
IP Cameras
IP CCTV or Internet Protocol Closed Circuit Television, is a security surveillance system of IP Cameras and video servers which connects seamlessly with the Internet and Internet related digital services, including Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, 3G or GPRS Access connection. Existing network infrastructure can be used, no extra long distance cables required.
IP security cameras can be moved with minimum time & effort, and cabling does not need to be replaced.
IP security cameras can be installed at any location, no matter the distance.
The same camera could be viewed or recorded simultaneously at multiple locations, controlled by multiple security levels.
Recording could take place anywhere, and even an existing PC or Server could be used for a few cameras.
Any amount of recordings per camera can take place at the same time, at multiple locations for redundancy or off-site storage.
Bandwidth could be controlled differently for each camera.
Hard drive space can be shared across many systems for recording of video or data.
Audio or alarms can be connected to the same encoders which transmit the video.
Existing alarm system could be monitored from remote locations.
IP CCTV cameras are similar to standard CCTV cameras in features and functions but offer far superior picture quality as they do not transmit their images and sound as analogue signals but as data. They also offer remote configuration of their settings, and on some models even the image sensor of the camera can be configured as required. IP CCTV cameras incorporate built in web servers which allows for live monitoring, recording and configuration across a computer network or the internet (by connecting the camera directly to an internet connection using the relevant equipment, for example a Router to connect to an ADSL Internet connection).
Recording Units
The existing CCTV cameras use the analogue method to record images on the tapes. So it is required to frequently change the videotapes and the resolution of the recorded images is inferior. On the contrary, DVR (Digital Video Recorder) processes video images as digital method. So it enables the recording for a long time without replacement of videotapes and provides the clear images in high resolution without degradation of image qualities even though the tapes are played several times.A basic CCTV system comprises of a CCTV camera, a video transmission system which sends video signals from the camera to a recording system such as a digital video recorder (DVR) which in turns sends the image to a monitor for display, viewing of playback purposes.
