CCTV installation prices in South Africa - 2026 commercial & industrial guide

Honest, general average pricing for business CCTV systems in South Africa - per camera, per system size, and per month for monitoring. Compiled by a SAIDSA Grade A installer protecting SA business since 1967.

The figures below are general 2026 market averages for commercial and industrial installations, intended for budgeting. Every site is different - camera positions, cabling routes, storage requirements and analytics all change the price. What actually drives the price

Number and type of cameras

The single biggest cost driver. AI, LPR and thermal cameras cost several times more than standard IP cameras - but often replace guards or multiple fixed cameras.

Cabling and site conditions

Long cable runs, high mounting positions, trenching between buildings and fibre links between structures all add installation labour.

Storage and retention period

How many days of footage you must keep (30, 60, 90+) determines drive capacity. AI-rated surveillance drives cost more but last longer under 24/7 writing.

AI analytics and integrations

Shoplift detection, PPE monitoring, perimeter AI and POS/weighbridge integration add licence and configuration cost - and deliver the biggest operational returns.

Power resilience

Load-shedding protection via inverters or solar keeps the system recording when it matters most. Budget for it upfront rather than retrofitting.

Monitoring and maintenance

A monitored, maintained system is an operating service, not a once-off purchase. Factor in the monthly cost of 24/7 offsite monitoring and preventative maintenance.

A word on cheap quotes

The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest system. Uncertified installations can void insurance claims, fail POPIA requirements and cost more to fix than to replace. Always use a PSIRA-registered installer (our regs: 960468 and 4412150) with SAIDSA Grade A accreditation (ours: ASP-1571) - it is the highest installer classification in South Africa, and insurers know it.

  • As a general 2026 average, a small commercial system of 4–8 IP cameras costs R25,000–R60,000 fully installed, a medium 8–16 camera system R60,000–R150,000, and large industrial deployments of 16–32 cameras R150,000–R350,000. Enterprise and multi-site systems with AI analytics start around R350,000. Every site differs, so these are indicative budgeting figures.

  • A standard 4MP IP camera supplied and installed averages R2,500–R5,500 per camera point including cabling. Advanced cameras with AI analytics, licence plate recognition or thermal imaging range from R8,000 to R25,000+ per point.

  • Offsite monitoring in South Africa typically costs R950–R3,500 per month per site, depending on the number of cameras, monitoring hours and response requirements. It is billed as a monthly service on top of the installation.

  • Quotes vary with camera quality, cabling standards, storage capacity, and whether the installer is accredited. A PSIRA-registered, SAIDSA Grade A installer using enterprise-grade equipment will quote more than an informal installer - but the system will be insurable, compliant and supported.
