What international research shows
Published findings on this kind of intervention elsewhere, not results measured on this site.
The ACFE's 2026 study of 2,402 occupational fraud cases in 143 countries found the median scheme ran 12 months before detection. Frauds caught within six months had a median loss of US$40,000, against more than US$1.1 million for schemes that ran over five years, and controls such as management review and proactive data monitoring were associated with lower losses and faster detection.
Source: Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (2026), Occupational Fraud 2026: A Report to the NationsCar parks showed the largest and most consistent effect of any setting studied: CCTV schemes there were associated with a 37% reduction in crime compared with control areas.
